18 Children released from Paper industry and Hotel dhabas in Central Delhi; 6employers arrested

10th,December, 2012 Delhi

In a raid conducted on belalf of Bachpan Bachao Andolan and other NGOs on today in Central district of Delhi, 18 child labourers were rescued from Hotel dhabas,ring chain and paper making industry. The rescue operation was led by Sub-Divisional Magistrate,D.B Gupta road,Mr. Pawan Kamra, accompanied by police, members of Labour Department,activists of Bachpan Bachao Andolan(BBA) and other NGOs.

Chief Justice of India marches with former child labourers and trafficking victims

In a region where children are trafficked to be sold as slaves in towns and cities across the country at prices less than that of animals, Saturday marked a turning point when Hon’ble Chief Justice of India Altamas Kabir flagged off the March Against Child Labour and Trafficking from Guwahati.

The first leg of this campaign is a March Against Child Labour and Trafficking of Women and Children that will be flagged off by Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, Mr. Justice Altamas Kabir, and Hon'ble Justice D.K. Jain, Exec. Chairman, National Legal Services Authority, from Gauhati on 08th December 2012.

Bachpan Bachao Andolan and Global March Against Child Labour are organizing a 300 kilometre march to sensitize the masses and strengthen concerted and collaborative efforts to fight child labour and trafficking. For the first time in North Eastern region, this march is being organized in close association with the Government of Assam and Assam State Legal Services Authority.

Action to End Child Labour

In a raid in New Delhi on 1st December ripped out the truth about child labour in India. 14 children were rescued as slaving to brighten up homes and Yule trees, making Christmas baubles, stars, garlands, etc. Children were trafficked from parts of Bihar and other eastern states of India to New Delhi, capital of India to work as bonded labourers.

Gordon Brown celebrates festival of lights with the children at Mukti Ashram

New Delhi: 08th November 2012

Diwali (the festival of lights in India) became brighter for the children of Mukti Ashram (short term rehabilitation centre of Bachpan Bachao Andolan in Delhi) when the United Nations Special Envoy for Global Education, Mr. Gordon Brown visited it last evening. In spite of an extremely busy schedule with meetings lined up with the President and Prime Minister of India, Mr. Brown spared time to interact with children rescued from slavery and bondage, undergoing rehabilitation at Mukti Ashram.
