Trichy: Following complaints of children being employed in commercial establishments during the lockdown, a team of government officials jointly with Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA) project carried out raids in Trichy recently and rescued four child labourers.
The raids were conducted in commercial establishments at Somarasampettai, Thathaingarpettai, Inamkulathur and Sathirapatti in rural Trichy and at Palakkarai in the city. They found the four boys employed in Somarasampettai area — two 16-year-olds in a two-wheeler mechanic shop, a 12-year-old in a bakery and a 15-year-old boy in a petrol bunk.
