Mobile App Launched to Trace Missing Children

One child goes missing every eight minutes in the country. In a landmark step to address this grim situation, Bachpan Bachao Andolan recently launched a mobile application which comes as a ray of hope to thousands of anguished families of such children. The app, named “ReUnite” that works on the technology of facial recognition software will help to report, search and identify abandoned children on the streets.
The app was launched by child rights activist and Noble Peace Laureate Mr. Kailash Satyarthi and Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Mr Suresh Prabhu. In 2016 alone, 63407 children went missing the country which included 22,340 males and 41,067 females, according to the latest report of National Crime Records Bureau. Citizens can capture the image of any vulnerable child who might be a missing child. Parents can report about their missing child by uploading detailed information like name, last geo-location, address, contact information, etc., along with images.
