10 Child Labourers Rescued From A Bangle Factory In Jaipur, 2 Employers Arrested

In a major crackdown on a bangle manufacturing unit in Jaipur on July 16, a joint team comprising Bachpan Bachao Andolan’s Rajasthan team members, officials of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit and local police rescued 10 children from a house near Sanjay Nagar in Bhatta Basti area of Jaipur.

The children were being made to work for nearly 16 hours a day from 8 in the morning till 12 midnight and were barred from stepping out of the house from where the unit was functioning.

Two FIRs were arrested in the case and two employers were arrested following the raid. It came to light that six of the 10 children who were rescued had been trafficked from Gaya in Bihar while the other four were locals.

The children have been sent to the local Child Care Institute after production before the Child Welfare Committee.
