Action Month against Child Labour: 5,114 Children Rescued

In view of World Day against Child Labour on 12th June, we have been observing the month of June as Action Month against Child Labour since 2018. During the action month, our teams and NGO partners in collaboration with Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) organise rescue operations in a mission mode across the country.

As a part of the action month, 5,114 children were rescued from child labour. Of these, 3,284 children were rescued in the month of June while 2,367 were rescued in July as a continuation of the raid and rescue process.

We initiated action month in 331 districts across the country wherein a series of activities, right from awareness generation activities to rescuing children from exploitative situations and providing them rehabilitation support. As many as 757 raids were carried out in June and 1,325 raids were conducted in July. A total of 592 FIRs were registered against perpetrators and 654 employers/traffickers were arrested in the process.

Additionally, 410 awareness generation activities were organized across the country throughout the month including consultations, awareness marches, and more. Also, nine state consultations in collaboration with Women and Child Development departments, State Commissions for the Protection of Child Rights, State Legal Services Authorities and the labour department, were organized.
