Minors Rescued From Food Stall Near Kalka Stn

Acting on a tip off shared by the District Trask Force about children working in a food stall in Kalka Railway Station, a Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA) team carried out an on the spot verification and got in touch with law enforcement agencies concerned to rescue the children.

A joint rescue team comprising personnel from the Panchkula District Task Force, District Child Protection Unit, Anti Human Trafficking Unit, Labour Department and BBA raided the stall near Kalka railway station and rescued three children on August 10. The children were in the 14-15 year age group and were engaged in preparing food, chopping vegetables, cooking and washing dishes.

During the rescue operation, local politicians reached the spot and approached the City Judge to release the children. They were sensitised about the laws and procedures and after orders of the Judge, they agreed to leave.

The rescued children have been produced before the Child Welfare Committee and were sent to a Child Care Institution post medical check-up. Counselling of the children is in progress and a DDR has been registered in the case.
