Being trafficked from Bihar to Ludhiana in Punjab to work as child labour, four children were rescued on August 5 from the Ambala Cantt Railway Station in Haryana. The rescue operation was conducted by a joint team of Railway Protection Force, Government Railway Police, Railway ChildLine, Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) and Bachpan Bachao Andolan.
Upon receiving the information from the AHTU of Sonpur district in Uttar Pradesh, BBA shared the information with RPF Ambala that children are being trafficked via train number 2047 from Bihar to Amritsar. Promptly a rescue team was constituted at the Ambala Cantt Railway Station which raided the train. Three traffickers have also been arrested and relevant proceedings have been initiated.
The rescued children have been produced before the Child Welfare Committee and have been sent to a local Child Care Institution. Counselling of children is underway.
