On July 23, 2021, a rescue operation was conducted by the Neemach City Police in Madhya Pradesh based on information provided by Bachpan Bachao Andolan’s Intelligence Network about a possible trafficking racket.

Three minor girls aged 11, 13 and 14 years were rescued from being forced into prostitution during this operation.
These girls belong to the local Bachhada community which is infamous for pushing its girls and women into prostitution.

Majority of minor girls from this community are forced into flesh trade from a very early age, as their families depend on the livelihood created by women through sex work.

Girls and women from this community are often found to be trafficked to other states.

Post rescue, these three girls were sent to the One Stop Centre with the help of the Childline.

One customer of the minor girls was also arrested from the spot. An FIR has been successfully lodged in the case under the relevant sections 3,4 and 5 of Immoral Trafficking Act, 1956.
