With the Help of Co-Passenger’s Information, 2 Trafficked Children Rescued from Railway Station in Andhra Pradesh, Traffickers Arrested

On 24th January 2012, BBA Telangana state team received information from the BBA Complaint cell at 10.45pm regarding two children being trafficked from Cuddapah District of Andhra Pradesh to Nizamabad district of Telangana via Rayalaseema Express (Train no 12793). The information was shared by one of the passengers who were traveling on the same train.

The information was shared with both the teams at Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The information about two children was verified after speaking to the caller.

The rescue operation was then planned at Vikarabad Railway station or Secunderabad Railway station. at 4.30 AM and 5.50 AM respectively.

The information was shared with the ADRM, South Central railway, GRP and RPF team of Secunderabad district. BBA also informed CWC Chairpersons, Childline, DCPU and AHTU of Vikarabad and Hyderabad district.

As per the ADRM’s  directions at 1.30 AM, RPF and Special Task Force teams planned a rescue operation at Yadagiri station (Karnataka) and finally rescued two children and arrested two traffickers from the train. Both the children are from Cuddapah district of Andhra Pradesh. The information was shared with the teams of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka for follow up purpose.

The children informed that they were being taken for labour work in Nizamabad District of Telangana state. The traffickers had an agreement with their parents and they were promised a monthly wage of Rs 5000 each.

The children were handed over the children to Donbosco Railway Childline at Yadgir Railway station by the RPF task force. The children were produced before the Child Welfare Committee of Yadagiri district and provided shelter in a CCI.

FIR has been registered in the case under relevant sections of law IPC 1860 (U/s-370) at  Raichur Railway Police Station, Karnataka
