BBA Rescues 29 Children From 3 Railway Stations

Being trafficked by train, 29 children were rescued from three different railway stations across the country on August 4, 2021 following prompt intervention by Bachpan Bachao Andolan.

BBA had received information about 30 children being trafficked. The information was further verified by BBA staff by going to Hajipur, Sonepur and Samastipur stations in Bihar. Post verification, the information was further shared with the Government Railway Police, Railway Protection Force, Child Line, Child Welfare Committee and ADCP of Vaishali district (Hajipur railway station) so that the children could be rescued.

While 12 children were rescued from Hajipur railway station, 9 children were rescued from Sonepur, and 8 children were rescued from Chapra railway station. These children were being trafficked to Delhi and Punjab to work as child labourers.

The children were from the districts of Katihar, Purnea, Madhepura in Bihar and few were from West Bengal.
