BBA Rescues 17 Trafficked Children from Muzaffarpur Yesvantpur Express

Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA) conducted a raid operation in collaboration with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) at 2 PM on 5 September, leading to the rescue of 17 trafficked children from the clutches of 4 traffickers.

The Muzaffarpur Yesvantpur Express train was rigorously searched between Bhubaneswar and Visakhapatnam. Two trafficked children were rescued at Khurda station and one trafficker was also apprehended. While 15 children were rescued at the Vishakhapatnam station, along with the arrest of 3 traffickers.

Out of the 17 rescued children, 15 were trafficked from different parts of Bihar including, Begusarai, Purnea, Katihar, Muzaffarpur, Araria, Betia, and Khagaria, and 2 were natives of New Delhi but boarded the train from Muzaffarpur. All the children were being trafficked to Chennai and Bangalore to make them work as construction labourers.

Following due process, the rescued children were produced before the Visakhapatnam Child Welfare Committee (CWC) to get their statement recorded for further action. BBA also facilitated the registration of FIR in the matter.
