On 2nd September 2021, 2 children were rescued by BBA in coordination with CWC, DCPU, Labour Department and Police teams from two mechanic shops in Medchal district of Telangana. One of the child was working in the shop from past 2 years and other child was working for last 2 months. Prior to COVID-19 pandemic, both of these children used to go to school, but were pushed into child labour due to lack of household income.
An FIR has been registered under Crime no 628/2021 U/s 79 JJ Act and 14 (1A) CLPRA at Kushauguda Police Station.
Children have been produced before the CWC Medchal district and were later sent to a child care institute. BBA and CWC are counselling both the children and parents who are willing to send the children to school regularly. CWC directed DCPU to follow up with the children to attend the school regularly. Two employers have been arrested in this case.
