BBA & RPF Partnership Led to Rescue of 1,686 Trafficked Children: Report

The report ‘Railways – Making the Break in Trafficking’ was released by the Director General (DG) of Railway Protection Force (RPF) Mr Sanjay Chander and BBA’s Founder, Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi at the 18th UIC World Security Congress 2023 organised by the RPF in Jaipur on 21st February.

The report highlighted the joint efforts made by BBA and RPF to combat trafficking through railways and revealed that since January 2020, 1,686 children were rescued and 337 traffickers arrested for illegally transporting children through railways. Also, 2,737 RPF personnel were sensitized across 15 zones of Indian Railways by BBA on laws related to child rights and child protection.

The event was attended by representatives of 22 countries from across the globe including representatives of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and Interpol. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Satyarthi said, “I applaud the leadership of RPF and the commitment of their team as they work round the clock to protect our children from the clutches of traffickers. Keeping our children safe should be our utmost priority. BBA is committed to working together with the RPF to break the backbone of this crime in an effective manner.”
